Five in Five with AUGUST&PIERS

Five in Five with AUGUST&PIERS

We thought it would be fun to get to know our inspirational founders a little better, so we created the 'Five in Five' series; 5 light hearted questions, that take less than 5 minutes to get to know the people behind the incredible brands at Elysian Theory.

We are kicking off the first one with August and Piers, the founders of none other than our favourite candle brand AUGUST&PIERS!

Let's get right into it!

From your collection, which product are you currently using the most right now? And why?

A:
At the moment I’m burning Libertine. It’s bloody freezing outside, and as Libertine is reminiscent of a wood fire, there couldn’t be a more perfect scent for this time of year.

P: Right now, I am burning Eccentric from our collection. It has a warm and bold scent that I find really brings some excitement to a room!

What are you currently reading, watching or listening to?

A: I’m currently reading ‘120 Days of Sodom’. Strange choice I know, but Frederic Malle recommended it! I’ve just finished watching The Spy on Netflix which I highly rate! I’ve got Black Coffee’s new album, Subconsciously on repeat!

P:
I’ve been listening to ‘Let my people go surfing’ audiobook by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia), which I have found absolutely fascinating and has inspired me with future idea’s regarding business and sustainability for A&P. TV wise I have also really started to love Grand Design’s in recent months!

If you could learn a new skill instantly, what would it be?

A:
French. I adore the language, and have always been an absolute Francophile!

P: I have always been quite hands on, so learning a new craft instantly like glassblowing or pottery would be amazing.

What does your current self-care ritual look like / how do you wind down after a long day?

A:
At the moment our working days are very long, but when the opportunity arises, I transport myself to Westeros (Game of Thrones) accompanied by a rich glass of red.

P: I try and get out every morning for a 30–40-minute walk around the local area before work with a coffee, I find this generally improves my mood and sets me up for the day. In the evenings I like to cook, which I find very therapeutic and takes my mind off work before bed.

How are you nourishing your soul during these challenging times?

A: By eating well (most of the time!), and getting out for long country walks at the weekend.

P: on the weekends I like to indulge in a lot of takeaways, making cocktails and in general have a bit of fun!
