Recycling is a tricky subject

We have all seen the recycling sign on many packages, and assume that this means that they are easily recyclable, and that they will be recycled. ♻️

Unfortunately, that is not always the case. The sign simply means that the packaging is recyclable and not that it will necessarily be
recycled.

In the UK, less than half of waste gets recycled.

I used to feel silly for not necessarily understanding what can and what cannot be recycled. As it turns out, I’m not the only one, as apparently only 18% of adults say that they feel confident about what can be recycled.

There is no need to feel silly though, because as I’ve come to understand, it’s not all as straight-forward and the guidance is not very clear.

There are many challenges and limitations to efficient recycling, but clear guidance should not be one of them.

At Elysian Theory, next to every product we provide recycling steps and state clearly whether part of a package or vessel is recyclable or not.

This is the least we can do, and as a committed business, we do not see any good reason to omit this information.

In our opinion, transparency is essential to making a true and positive change and one of the foundations of our core principles.

Whether your recyclable product ends up being recycled is dependent on many factors, one being your local recycling facilities. It’s worth looking into them. However if you’re unsure, just drop us an email and we will do our best to help!
